Essential ECS certification for electrotechnical students completing formal industry placements on UK construction and engineering sites.
Official-style ECS Industry Placement Card – recognised student certification for T-Level and industry placements.
The ECS Industry Placement Card (T-Level) is designed for electrotechnical and related students who are carrying out a structured work placement as part of their course. This includes T Levels, degree sandwich programmes and other qualifications that require a minimum of 30 days of industry placement.
The card is normally valid for three years and provides essential confirmation that you have met the basic health, safety and eligibility requirements to access UK construction and engineering sites during your placement.
Standard application processing: 10–15 working days
Includes routes and specialisms linked to Electrical & Electronic Equipment Engineering, Electrotechnical Engineering, Protection Systems Engineering, Digital Infrastructure, Network Cabling, Unified Communications and Digital Support where a structured industry placement is required.
Recognised across the UK as proof that you are undertaking a structured electrotechnical or digital industry placement.
Shows you have met ECS health, safety and environmental requirements for site access.
Helps you gain access to construction and engineering sites during your T Level or degree placement.
Supports your progression towards apprenticeships, trainee ECS cards and fully qualified roles.
Once we receive your completed application and supporting documents, it typically takes around 10–15 working days to process and dispatch your card. If information is missing or needs further checks, this may take longer.
The ECS Health, Safety and Environmental Assessment is a compulsory test that checks your understanding of key safety and environmental requirements on UK construction and engineering sites. It must usually be passed before an ECS Industry Placement Card can be issued.
The ECS Industry Placement Card is normally valid for three years. In many cases this will cover the full duration of your T Level or degree placement activity, subject to meeting ECS requirements.
The card supports a range of T Levels and similar qualifications that include substantial electrotechnical, digital infrastructure or building services content. This can include Building Services Design, Building Services Engineering, Control and Instrumentation, Digital Support Services, Digital Production, Design and Development and Digital Business Services, where an industry placement of at least 30 days forms part of the programme.
