Gold Standard Electrician Certification
The ECS Approved Electrician Gold Card is the industry-recognised benchmark for fully qualified electricians in the UK. It confirms that the holder has met the formal Level 3 NVQ competency standard, holds the current BS 7671 wiring regulations qualification, has passed the AM2/AM2S assessment and holds a valid ECS Health, Safety & Environment assessment.
With this card and Approved Electrician grading, you can usually work unsupervised on the installation, commissioning, maintenance and testing of electrical systems, and you may also take a lead role on projects and teams.

Eligibility Requirements
- Completed a JIB-recognised NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent competency-based qualification.
- Hold a current BS 7671 wiring regulations qualification (18th Edition or latest version in force).
- Successfully completed the relevant AM2 / AM2S assessment or industry-approved equivalent.
- Passed a valid ECS Health, Safety & Environment Assessment within the required timescale.
- Evidence of sufficient industry experience to meet Approved Electrician grading criteria.
